Wellbeing

At Hensall, we are committed to improving and maintaining a positive wellbeing for everybody in our community.  As a school, we understand the pivotal role that we can play in ensuring that mental health is 'everyone's business'.  At Hensall, we strive to create an environment which signposts and celebrates excellent mental health support with a high level of understanding leading to targeted and timely intervention for those individuals that need it.

“Children who are supported in their mental health and wellbeing in early childhood have a strong foundation for developing the skills, values and behaviours they need to experience positive physical and mental health as an adult. They are more likely to reach a higher level of education; attain and retain employment; build healthy and satisfying relationships; and participate actively in the community. This benefits both individuals and the communities in which they live.“  (Connections)

On a Wednesday afternoon, all children will take part in a 25-minute class assembly that will focus on wellbeing and mental health and will give children the opportunity to talk, discuss and learn strategies to support their own wellbeing and the wellbeing of others.

Evidence suggests that there are 5 steps we can all take to improve our mental wellbeing.  As a school, we are going to learn about each step and then give them a go!  This will then hopefully make us feel happier, more positive and help us get the most out of life.

Take a look at the video below where we talk about the benefits of our Daily Mile Track and how it is helping our mental health and wellbeing.
