Pastoral Support at Hensall School

Pastoral support is the provision in school that ensures the emotional wellbeing of pupils. We want everyone involved to feel welcomed and supported. We work closely with external agencies such as Compass Buzz and the Early Help team to ensure we offer the best extensive support to our children and their families.

The impact of pastoral support is significant, with evidence showing that children often learn more when their emotional health is well supported and barriers to learning addressed. Examples of emotional health concerns for children are friendships, parental separations, change, anxiety, bereavement, internet and technology safety, family worries and trauma.

Who’s Who?

The pastoral leaders who are currently supporting in school are from the White Rose Federation. This is the 3-school federation that Mrs MacDonald leads. The names of the staff members are Eleanor Langhorn and Sam Maud and we have attached their photographs below.

They have already reached out to some families to offer support and the impact of their work has made a difference to the children working with them.  To ensure that this pastoral support continues to grow at Hensall, they are both training up Mrs Cara Whitehead to continue delivering pastoral intervention when they at the other school sites.

The pastoral team aim to provide:

A safe and welcoming place where individuals are valued, listened to and helped to overcome any barriers to learning so they can lead fulfilling and balanced lives at school and beyond.

A focus on nurturing the individual needs of each child, building trusting and empathetic relationships with all our children and their families.

Should you wish to talk about any well-being concerns, please contact Sam, Eleanor or Cara and they will be happy to talk further with you.
