Miss Hamilton's Spelling Group
We have finished our focus on Phonics. Please use your little spelling book to review and practise all the words you have been working on so far. If you need extra, use this resource to practise spelling rules. Just print out the pages you need. It is a long document!
Week commencing 6.7.20
Literacy - Writing and Reading included
This week you will be listening to the story 'Maisie and the Dragon', writing a speech bubble conversation and describing how to care for a dragon. You will also use the story 'Dogger' to help you plan a write a similar story and design a 'Lost Toy' poster. Finally after reading the poem 'The Ragdoll to the Heedless Child' you will write a letter of apology. We look forward to seeing your work remember to send your photos.
This week you will be finding the difference between prices of 2 objects. You will also be investigating subtraction problems. Later in the week you will revise the days of the week and months of the year, thinking about the things you do on certain days and how each month has different characteristics and events. Tell the time and draw hands on the clock.

Literacy - Writing and Reading included
This week you will be continuing to develop your descriptive writing in different ways. You will write about events, characters and objects making your writing exciting for the reader. You will also write a postcard and an email linked to the stories, poems and songs you have heard.
This week you will be practicing telling the time initially to 15 minute intervals and then to 5 minutes using both digital and analogue clocks. You will also name the different coins we use and recognise the value of each. You will use coins to make different amounts and find change from 20p and 50p. You could make your own shop and add price labels to the objects. Invite members of your family to come shopping!
Week Commencing 22nd June
English - Writing and Reading included
This week you will be listening to different stories by Anthony Browne and using these to write descriptions and a book review. You will be reading the poems 'Tell it to the dog' and 'The Magic Pebble' and writing your own poem. We are already looking forward to reading them!
This week you will be counting in steps of 1/2 and 1/4 as well as finding fractions of amounts. You will also be recognising 3-D shapes and investigating their properties.
Week commencing 15th June
English - writing and reading included
This week you will be having lots of fun first with recipes and then poems. Find out about some animals and their favourite foods. Can you write a recipe for your favourite snack? After reading 'My Step-Dad is an Alien can you describe your own alien? Maybe you could make it. Be creative try making a model, lego, use material you find outside. Don't forget to share your creations with us!
This week you will firstly be finding the difference between two numbers. Later you will be subtracting a 2 digit number by counting back in 10s and 1s. Then practice your skills using money to subtract using 10 pences and other coins.
You will also be drawing and using tally charts, block graphs and pictograms to record information and answer questions.
