Phonicsplay is a great website which follows Letters and Sounds just like we do in school. You can continue teaching phonics by visiting www.phonicsplay.co.uk.

The website is free for this period.

Once you have used the log in, click on the Teachers button. Then click the Planning Button.

Ideas which do not require a computer or printer

Week Commencing 18 May 2020

Please can you check that your child can recite the days of the week in the right order? Once they've got the hang of this, see if they can spell them too. You could then move on to the months of the year.

English - Reading and Writing Included

Maths - We are looking at symmetry this week. There are some things to print out, but it can be just as useful to look for symmetry in buildings, gates, fences and flowers when you are out and about or in the garden. Draw round objects - such as lego pieces and jam jar lids and then try to fold them in half. Do they fit together perfectly? Are they symmetrical? This might also be a good time to practise some key skills like number bonds to 10. If you show 3 fingers, they should show 7 etc. If you say 3 they should say 17. Also check they can write all digits to 20 accurately, with correct orientation.
